Chan Smith
Like many people in the insurance industry; Chan was born and raised in small town America; Fenton, Iowa. From a young age Chan was attracted to the outdoors and fellowship which led him to involvement with the Boy Scouts of America and ultimately earned him an Eagle Scout badge. Community involvement has always been important to Chan. Active in the Fenton Community (Business) Association and the Fenton United Methodist Church he fostered many life-long relationships.
Before moving to Sedona in 1985, Chan owned a small insurance and real estate firm in Iowa. The weather and the scenery is what brought him to the Southwest where he met Ron Draxler and became the first employee at Draxler Insurance where he still specializes in home, auto, life and health insurance. His community involvement didn’t stop when he moved to Sedona where he has 32 years of membership in the Kiwanis Club and as served twice as president. In addition he sits on board of directors for the Oak Creek Water Co. #1 and his own HOA in the Northview neighborhood. He is active in the Sedona United Methodist Church where he is proud to have the longest membership without being the oldest member.
The same things that brought Chan to Sedona continue to keep him here today. He loves the beauty of the red rocks which he regularly explores on day hikes throughout the area. He also enjoys the wide variety of wildlife found in the area and his own backyard. The four seasons Sedona has to offer keep a smile on his face and he never gets tired of seeing a weather forecast for sunny skies with light and variable winds.
